1. St. Anthony Main
and Northeast
Come early and discover the Minneapolis
Riverfront District. Take a walk around the riverfront and
explore the Bridges
of the Minneapolis Riverfront District, Mill
Ruins Park, the
Mill City Museum, and
The Milwaukee Depot Complex. See the future home of The
Guthrie Theatre with it’s endless bridge over West
River Parkway, then cross the
Stone Arch Bridge and follow the pathways through Father
Hennepin Bluff Park to the cobblestones of Main
Street where you can experience the history, shops and restaurants
along Main
Street and up along East
Hennepin. At 3 PM, there will be music in the courtyard
at St.
Anthony Main and at 5:00 PM more music will begin on the
Main Street stage. The day culminates in a spectacular fireworks
display beginning at 10 PM.
2. Father Hennepin Bluff Park, Nicollet Island Park
and West River Parkway.
Bring your blankets, picnic baskets,
Frisbees, friends and families to these Minneapolis
Riverfront parks for a day of fun and exploration of the
Minneapolis
Riverfront District. If you are picnicking at Father
Hennepin Bluff Park, it is a short walk to the Stone
Arch Bridge to see the 10 PM Fireworks display. If you are
at Nicollet
Island or West
River Parkway, just turn around at 10 PM and face the river
to catch the Fireworks display.
3. Late
Afternoon or Early Evening
After 6 pm take a drive to the riverfront
to catch a movie or have a bite to eat at one of the many establishments
on Main Street or
East Hennepin. At 9:30, stroll to the riverfront and find
your spot on the Stone
Arch Bridge, along Main
Street in front of St.
Anthony on Main or along West
River Parkway to watch the 10 PM fireworks display.
